Dear colleagues from academia, government laboratories and industry, as well as business entrepreneurs and specialists in the field of renewable and sustainable energy:

It gives mean immense pleasure to extend the greetings to everyone attending the International Conference on Renewable and Sustainable Energy(RENEWABLEENG 2023) to be held in Barcelona, Spain, in September 25-27, 2023. The RENEWABLEENG 2023 is a premier conference featuring lots of opportunities to network with partners from all over the world in an exciting environment to present most updated findings, exchange ideas, and make strategic alliances to secure our environment to be absolutely clean!

The RENEWABLEENG 2023 would focus on identifying the current problems and generating viable solutions to the world’s challenges associated with climate changes, and addressing the quest for sustainable development goal and the transition to a low carbon future as established by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.The Conference includes more than 120 high-profile plenary, keynote and invited speakers, in 3 plenary sessions and 10 breakout sessions, covering a variety of innovative methods in energy generation and storage towards improved sustainability and reduced environmental impact, while achieving high conversion and distribution efficiencies.

Barcelona, being the Unique and Grand City in Europe and a historic city with rich cultural heritage, has managed it's assets in the same time to assume the City’s leadership role in various fields of sciences and technologies. In view of this, the theme reflects our willingness and enthusiasm to offer a really innovative program composed of inspiring lectures and sessions with well-balanced inputs from academia, industry and regulators. Besides featuring a highly interactive, stimulating and multidisciplinary program, the official conference venue provides a relaxing atmosphere for discussion and networking among on-site attendees Moreover, this Conference is operated in a hybrid form to welcome remote attendees by using zoom.

He was the recipient of the Outstanding Reviewer Award from many journals, e.g., Energy Conversion and Management (ECM), ISA Transactions, and Applied Energy. He was the recipient of the best young researcher in the Arab Student Forum Creative among 61 researchers from 16 countries at Alexandria University, Egypt, 2011. He also received the Excellent Paper Award 2021/2022 from IEEE CSEE Journal of Power and Energy Systems (SCI IF: 3.938; Q1). He has published more than 200 research papers in high-quality peer-reviewed journals and international conferences. His research papers received more than 3000 citations with H-index of 36 and i-index of 100. He authored/edited15 books published in reputed publishers such as Springer, IET, Wiley, Elsevier, and Taylor & Francis. He serves as an editor in a number of prestigious journals such as IEEE Systems Journal, Computers and Electrical Engineering (CAEE-Elsevier), IET Journal of Engineering, and Smart Cities. He has also performed more than 800 reviews for high prestigious journals, including IEEE Transactions on Power Systems, IEEE Transactions on Smart Grid, IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics, IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, Energy Conversion and Management, Applied Energy, International Journal of Electrical Power & Energy Systems. He has participated in more than 15 international industrial projects over the globe. Since 2022 Anna Pinnarelli is Associate Professor at the DIMEG of University of Calabria, Italy. Research activity has been mainly focused on: analysis, modeling and simulation in Matlab-Simulink and Ansys Simplorer environments of integrated hybrid systems (from converters to conventional and non-conventional storage technologies); definition and implementation of management models for aggregate systems within the electricity market; development and implementation of enabling technologies for Smart Grids: Smart Meters, electronic power converters for interfacing with the IAFR network, storage systems or IAFRs equipped with storage, designed to operate in aggregate form in order to govern the power flows in the networks and peer to peer power exchanges between them; micro-cogeneration systems based on the use of linear synchronous generators driven by Stirling free piston engines; nanoGrid for Home Application intended for the creation of hybrid power systems capable of integrated all-in-one photovoltaic generators, wind microgenerators, storage systems, special converters for V2H & H2V applications suitable for both off grid and grid Connected applications; implementation and application of models and algorithms for Demand Response in the SmartGrid environment; Implementation of control systems for nanoGrid to be used for the creation of mini-Grids or micro-Grids with DC or AC distribution; implementation of Energy Management System (EMS) for the management and control (through the use of nanoGrid) of the power flows in the distribution networks within the "energy communities" and the exchange of energy between Consumer, Prosumer, Consumage ( r), Prosumage (r) of the same “energy community” (aggregate systems). The research activity is associated with an intense experimentation activity in the laboratory and in the real-life application which has led to the creation of several laboratory prototypes of enabling technologies in the field of smart grids such as nanogrids, smart meters and smart PV lighting systems and of a test-facility installed at the campus of Università della Calabria. During the research activity there were several technical and scientific exchanges/collaborations with industries of the electrical engineering area, such as for example: SIEL, FAAM, EnelX. As an expert, (since 2013) she is a technical consultant on behalf of Italian Authority ARERA, for the evaluation of the system research projects – RdS. She collaborates with the University of Technology, Wrocaw, Poland and the University of Zaragoza- Zaragoza, Spain, as well as with the research institutes Enea and CNR. Since 2020, she is representative of UNICAL partner within H2020 BRIDGE - Cooperation group of Smart Grid, Energy Storage, Islands and Digitalisation H2020 projects. She is acting as Work Package Leader in several National projects. She is the Scientific Coordinator for the Unical partner of the H2020 Project Ebalanceplus. She also acts as Lead and guest editor for special issues associated with international scientific journals, and she has been plenary speaker in several scientific conferences, chair in international conferences and member of scientific committees. She is the author of many scientific papers published in international journals and proceedings of international conferences. She is a co-author of the National industrial patent BI2638M “DISPOSITIVO ELETTRONICO DI CONTROLLO DI UN MOTORE STIRLING DI TIPO FREE-PISTON CON ALTERNATORE LINEARE E RELATIVO METODO DI CONTROLLO”, n° 102016000065916. She is a member of the Scientific and Technical Council of the Consortium CRETA (Regional Consortium for Energy and Environmental Protection) as well as one of the founders of Spin-off Academic CRETA Energie Speciali Srl operating in the field of renewable energy sources. She is member of the Scientific and Technical Committee of Polo d’Innovazione Ambiente e Rischi Naturali - NET, having as trajectories: techniques, products and devices for the analysis and assessment of hydrogeological risk and other environmental risks; devices, sensors and solutions for the earthquake protection of the territory; early warning systems and emergency management related to environmental risks; new energy technologies and reuse of scraps and waste to reduce the environmental impact. Since October 2017 she is appointed by the Regione Calabria, as technical expert and support the activity of the Head of the Procedure having the specific technical skills, as part of the implementation of the "Sistema di collegamento metropolitano tra Cosenza, Rende e Università della Calabria". She is carrying out teaching activities in the energy engineering degree courses and in several Masters in the field of smart grids and power electronic converters.

Mohamed Abdel Salam was born in Cairo, Egypt 1969, where he grow up and raised to love science. He joined one of the top universities in the region; Ain Shams University, Faculty of Science, by 1986 and decide to specialized in Chemistry as it fascinating his mind, heart and eyes. He obtained a Bachelor of Science (B. Sc.) degree in Chemistry by 1990 among the top list of the department. Salam was then chosen to join the National Research Centre in Egypt, where his research work focus on the industrial chemistry, and he obtained his first Master of Science degree (M. Sc.) by 1993, then he resigned and joined a Petroleum Company at the Egyptian desert where he learn the practical aspects of petroleum extraction and treatment as well as different methods for corrosion protection and monitoring. While working at the petroleum company, he was admitted for the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph. D) program at Ain Shams University where he obtained his first Ph. D. By 1998, he immigrated to Canada, and joined Carleton University at the Canadian capital, Ottawa, where he obtained his second M. Sc. by 2003 in the field of electroanalytical speciation, and his second Ph.D. by 2006 in the field of nanomaterials. Dr. Salam joined Health Canada after his graduation, and then he joined the chemistry department at the faculty of Science, King Abdulaziz University, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia by 2008. He is at present a professor of physical chemistry at chemistry department at the faculty of Science, King Abdulaziz University and his research interests focuses on the preparation of new nanomaterials and their potential applications for electrochemical application, environmental remediation, desalination, energy, polymer science, as well as their potential biological applications, and potential toxicity. Prof. Salam registered 4 US patents, authored and co-authored 135 research papers at well-known peer reviewed international journals. Prof. Salam among the editorial board of Scientific Reports, Chemical Papers, South African Journal of Chemical Engineering, where he really enjoyed his role as an editor (262 Verified Editor Records), and a frequent reviewers for many well-known scientific journals (287 Verified Peer Reviews). His h-index according to Google Scholar is 42, according to Scopus is 38, and according to the web of science is 38. Salam is married and blessed with a 23 years old boy (Omar), and three adorable daughters (Sarah, Sana, and Salma), as well as two lovely cats (Kobe, and Simba).

Professor Taylor, who was appointed as Pro Vice-Chancellor for Research and Enterprise in July 2020, is responsible for shaping Bristol’s research and enterprise activity, ensuring it meets the University’s strategic ambition to be a world-leading research-intensive university making a positive contribution to the key global challenges facing society. He is also responsible for engaging with a wide range of organisations - from funders to corporates and charities - regionally, nationally and internationally, and enhancing an already high-performing research environment at Bristol.Professor Taylor was appointed as a sub-panel member for REF2021. Professor Taylor is an internationally leading researcher and industrial expert in energy systems, who has worked in industry and academia for over 25 years. He joined Newcastle University in 2013 as Dean and Director of the multidisciplinary Institute for Sustainability, and later, became the Head of the School of Engineering. He led the University’s involvement in Newcastle Helix, a city centre quarter which brings together hundreds of researchers, businesses, and progressive homeowners living and working side-by-side and housing four national research centres. Professor Taylor’s work in industry includes time at GEC Alstom, EPS (UK), Teradyne and SenergyEconnect, where among many achievements he developed diagnostic software for the automotive and aerospace sectors and designed the grid connection for the UK’s first commercial offshore wind farm. Professor Taylor leads the EPSRC Supergen Energy Networks Hub, which brings together industrial and academic partners (including five UK universities) with other energy network stakeholders to gain a deeper understanding of the interactions and interdependencies of energy networks, and researches the challenges of technology, policy, data, markets and risk for energy networks. In addition to being a Visiting Professor at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, Professor Taylor is also a non-executive director of Northern Powergrid and a member of the Customer Engagement Group for Wales & West Utilities. Professor Taylor also serves on the Board of Trustees of the national fuel poverty charity, National Energy Action (NEA). During 2022, Professor Taylor was appointed by Sir Patrick Vallance to the Government’s Net Zero Innovation Board.

Dr. Ahmed Mohamed Mehaney is a lecturer of physics at the Department of physics, faculty of Science at Beni-Suef University. He received a BS degree from Beni-Suef University (2008) and MS degrees from Beni-Suef University (2013). In 2017, he received a PhD degree from Beni-Suef University. (H-index: 23), Citations (1345) Dr. Mehaney’s research focuses on the dynamics of materials and structures, especially phononic crystals and locally resonant phononic Metamaterials, at both the continuum and atomistic scales. His approach to phononics is rather broad ranging from vibrations isolation structures in lattice dynamics, sensors, energy harvesting structures as well as photonic crystals and Metamaterials. His studies are concerned with physical phenomena governing these systems, relevant theoretical and computational treatments, and analysis of the effects of dispersion, resonance, dissipation and nonlinearity. Recently he has also been conducting experiments to support portions of the theoretical work. In 2013, he received the best Master thesis Award form Beni-Suef University. Dr. Mehaney has served as an editor and referee for many journals such as the American Journal of Mechanical and Materials Engineering, Annals of Biostatistics & Biometric Applications, International Journal of Physics Research and Applications, Beni-Suef university journal of basic and applied sciences and the Journal of Computational Systems Biology (JCSB). He is as an author of a chapter entitle Phononic crystals and thermal effects in a book entitled Photonic Crystals-A Glimpse of the Current Research Trends at IntechOpen. During his PhD he published five papers, and since 2012 so far he published 84 papers in archival journals such as Journal of Applied Physics, Scientific Reports, Ultrasonics, physica E and Mechanical systems and signal processing,.. Dr. Mehaney has served as an editor for many journals such as Micromachines, photonics, Annals of Biostatistics & Biometric Applications, International Journal of Physics Research and Applications, Beni-Suef university journal of basic and applied sciences and a referee for many high quality impacted journals such as Nanotechnology, ACS Materials& Interfaces, Journal of applied physics, Ultrasonics, Journal of physics D-applied physics, Scientific reports, results in physics and Sensors and Actuators: A. Physical.

As the head of NELab and the new energy measurement & control research team, he closely focuses on the construction of control science and engineering disciplines, conducting the new energy measurement and control research with the collaborative battery state estimation. He has carried out the exploration and industrialization application of life cycle state measurement and control theory. 56 projects have been undertaken, including the projects from the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Provincial Science and Technology Department. 153 research papers have been published (Research Interest Score: 9455; Citations: 1624; h-index: 21). 67 intellectual property rights have been applied, of which 23 authorizations have been approved. 7 books have been published by famous publishers such as Elsevier and IET. The team is taken as an academician workstation team and a military-civilian integration innovation team. With close exchanges and cooperation in the field, the international book "Battery System Modeling" is published by the world-famous publisher "Renewable Energy ELSEVIER". He served on the editorial board of international journals and conferences. The publication of "New Energy Technology and Power Management" has been printed for 3800 copies and received high praise. He has guided students to carry out more than 29 scientific and technological innovation projects. 23 honorary titles or awards have been achieved, such as young scholars and leading experts of innovative talent teams. Also, the team has been continuously supported by the "University & Enterprise Innovative Talent Team Support Plan" and unanimously praised by employers and peer experts. Based on the deep integration of industry, education, and research, the NELab team led by him has a close relationship with the University of Science and Technology of China, Robert Gordon University, Aalborg University, Tsinghua University, and Shandong University. Cooperated with Changhong Power Supply, and Quality Inspection Institute, new technology systems are formed for state monitoring and control system architecture, realizing the development and industrialization of more than 30 varieties of battery measurement and control equipment in 6 series, with a domestic market share of more than 60%. He has won 1 science and technology first prize from China Federation Logistics and Purchasing, 1 third prize from the Sichuan Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award, 1 first prize from the Mianyang Science and Technology Progress Award, 1-second prize from Suining Science and Technology Progress Award, 2 appraisals and 1 standard. Academician Chen Qingquan, known as "one of the three sages of electric vehicles" and "the father of electric vehicles in Asia", presided over the meeting to identify the research results and give a high evaluation. A comprehensive score of 91 is obtained with many innovations and the international advanced level. The relevant research results have been used in many companies, cultivating a large number of high-level outstanding talents, driving the development of the upstream and downstream industrial chains in the field of energy storage, and achieving remarkable social and economic benefits.
